Special Education Preschool Program

The Cle Elum Roslyn School District offers a Special Education Preschool Program for students who qualify with disabilities in either cognitive, motor, adaptive, language or social development.

The Special Education Preschool Program is located in the Primary wing of the Elementary School.  Classes are held Monday through Thursday with 2 hour sessions in the morning and afternoon.  Our classrooms vary in size but generally range from 4-8 students per class, and are taught by a certificated special education teacher, with the assistance of paraprofessionals.  The occupational therapist and speech therapist participate in program development and provide pull out services if needed.

Our curriculum is generated and based on the learning objectives of the students.  Opportunities to develop academic readiness, motor, language and social development are embedded throughout the preschool day.  Our classes establish predictable routines and structure to the learning process, with a balance of teacher directed and child directed activities.

Parent involvement is crucial to the development of the individualized education program (IEP).  The IEP is formulated by a team consisting of trained professionals such as the special education teacher, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist and school psychologist.
