Food Services Overview: To assist children in obtaining optimal physical and mental development, the school district’s breakfast and lunch program goal is to provide high quality meals and nutrition as an integral part of the total educational experience for all children. The Food Service Department is committed to providing nourishing lunches and breakfasts to all students wanting our services. As such, the Cle Elum-Roslyn School D istrict participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program. Meals served in the Cle Elum-Roslyn School D istrict conform to US D A guidelines for fat and other nutritional components. All menus are produced with no more than 30% of calories which are derived from fat. The school lunch program is governed by Federal (US D epartment of Agriculture) and State (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) regulations, as well as policies that the school board deems necessary. Menus must meet school lunch program meal pattern requirements. Meals are planned with a goal of providing students with one third of their Minimum Daily Requirements. |

| Purchasing Meals: Meals may be paid for with cash or a check made payable to the school district. One week prior to school opening, the secretaries at all schools will be accepting money for the breakfast/lunch program. During the school year, payment can be made to the food service cashier at the elementary/middle school complex or to the high school secretary. This year the school district has implemented a new computer system to track your child's account balance and will remind them when they need to bring additional monies from home. No charging to accounts or credit balances will be allowed. | ||
| About Our Operations: The central kitchen is located at the elementary/middle school complex; all food is prepared there and lunch meals are transported daily to the high school. Breakfast is served for elementary, middle and high school students in the elementary lunch room. In addition to the lunch program, a limited a la carte program is provided to middle and high school students following the serving of hot lunches. | ||
| Free and Reduced Meal Applications: Applications for free or reduced-price meals need to be updated every year. In order to qualify for the current school year, parents or guardians must reapply, even if they qualified for last year. If the student qualified last school year, they will be pre-qualified for only the first 30 days of school. Please submit the application form as soon as possible to avoid any delays. Each child will be provided with an application form to bring home on the first day of school. Applications are also available on the district’s web site. Additional forms are available from your school office. Cle Elum-Roslyn School District audits 3% of all applications on a yearly basis in order to comply with USDA audit requirements. These applications are selected at random starting in October of each year. Questions regarding free and reduced-price meal applications should be directed to Head Cook Candy Grover or by contacting the District Office at 2690 SR 903, Cle Elum, WA 98922 or by phone at 509-649-4850, or by email to: |
