Cle Elum-Roslyn Middle School/ Alternative School Counselor

Text Box: The Cle Elum-Roslyn School District is accepting applications for a Middle School/Alternative School Counselor for the 2008-2009 school year.  We are interested in staff who are committed to students and to a continuing program of personal and professional growth.  The mission of the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District is to meet the educational needs of all students through a continuing partnership between schools, parents and community. 
Professional Qualifications:
Must possess or be eligible for Washington State E.S.A. 
      Counselor Certification.
Be knowledgeable of State/Federal regulations for students with 
	disabilities to include Section 504.
Strong background in child/adolescent development.
Knowledge of current trends in the field of counseling &
	mental health with emphasis on the ASCA National Model.
Knowledge of counseling techniques & strategies.
Ability to work cooperatively & effectively with students, parents, 
	staff and administration.
Knowledge of community resources.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally & in writing.

Typical Responsibilities:  
Provide counseling to meet the specialized needs of students with educational, social, and personal concerns.
Provide conflict resolution and social skills strategies with  students grades 6-12.
Work with alternative education students to facilitate educational programs. 
Provide assistance & consultation to teachers & students in the areas of learning, behavior, and responsibility.
Facilitate transition from one student educational level to the next.
Assist in coordinating WASL testing .
Assist administration in dissemination and interpretation of standardized tests for individuals and groups of students.
Coordinate and facilitate Building Intervention Team (BIT) meetings 6-8and serve as building Section 504 coordinator. 
Participate in professional growth opportunities.
Work closely with Special Education Director, Principals, and  District 504 Coordinator to coordinate services.
Infuse technology in all areas of record keeping & documentation
Other duties as assigned.
