A Message from Mark FlatauSuperintendent of the Cle Elum-Roslyn School DistrictFor the past several weeks it has been my pleasure to talk with and discuss with school board members, staff, parents, and community members, the positive things happening in our school district and the areas we must improve upon. In my discussions with building principals and our school board I asked the question, "What type of learning environment/community do we desire for our students, staff, parents and public?" What followed was a reflective and stimulating conversation that resulted in some very important conclusions. A summary of the focus of our discussions is stated in the following: All members of the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District family bring unique talents and value to our work and purpose. Everyone counts and has important responsibilities to the overall work of the district. Therefore… The Cle Elum-Roslyn School District is a Welcoming and Respectful Environment, Filled with Caring and Compassionate People, Resulting in Social and Academic Excellence. Let me emphasize the end result of social and academic excellence. This is our true work or purpose, to bring our students to a place of social and academic excellence. We have the responsibility of making this happen for all students; not the students we used to have, nor the ones we should have, or the ones we deserve to have, but for every student that walks through our doors each day. I look forward to more dialogue with you in order to make this happen for all of our students and the role we all can play. You truly are an important part.Mark Flatau |
